KS4 Edexcel BTEC Construction and the Built Environment Level 2:

What is covered on the course?

Discover the world of construction. The BTEC construction course will enable learners to interpret and analyse the information given before starting a task, and identify the infrastructure that needs to put in place to run a job efficiently and safely. Students will also develop a broad understanding of the built environment. Students will examine how client needs can shape building design, and will develop their own design ideas to a given brief. Students will also develop their scientific and mathematical knowledge and apply it in practical construction. This course also has some practical work involved as we look in to other trades such as; Joinery, Plumbing and bricklaying etc.

How is the course assessed?

Unit 1 (core) externally assessed exam,

Unit 2 (core) internally assessed assignment,

Unit 3 (Mandatory) internally assessed assignment,

Unit 6 (optional choice made by the tutor) internally assessed practical work.

What equipment will my child need? All specialised technology equipment is supplied  including tools and drawing equipment but there is an expectation that all students provide a pen, pencil, ruler, eraser, pencil sharpener and pencil case.
