Careers Information and Guidance (CEIAG)

The South Leeds Academy has a clear vision that when students leave us after year 11, they will be going onto further education, work or training that will set them on their chosen career path. We support the career development and employability of all our students no matter what year of study they are in. It is never too early to use our resources, and in our experience those students who engage with these achieve success in their career aspirations.

The South Leeds Academy has two careers staff:

Mrs E Davies – Care and Guidance Professional

Mrs V Norton – Careers Advisor and Year 11 Director

DROP IN Year 7-11

Students from years 7-11 can see Mrs Davies in her careers drop in sessions Monday and Wednesday at 2pm in the upper library. Appointments can be made for one to one appointments or students with similar questions can be seen in small groups.

YEAR 11

Students in year 11 will be seen by Mrs Norton at various points through the year for guidance meetings.

Mrs Davies and Mrs Norton will provide confidential and impartial advice to students on:

  • Planning for the future – if you have a career idea but want to find out the best route for you or if you have no career ideas they can help you create career ideas around your interests and skills.
  • Choosing your options and what would best suit you.
  • Choosing and apply for a course at college or a sixth form.
  • Finding work or an apprenticeship.
  • Completing application forms, CVs and letters of application.
  • Job hunting techniques including mock interviews.

FUTURE YOU WORKSHOPS

Future You Workshops are held in the library every Wednesday 2.30-3.15pm. They will have different focuses throughout the year and will be run my Mrs Davies or visiting business professionals. There are 16 places at every session so pre-booking with Mrs Davies is advised, but if there are free places they will be given on a first come first served basis. Please see time table below.
